There is a particular quality of light in Elewijt, Belgium! Northern, considered, never quite predictable, that has shaped the work of painters and designers for centuries. No wonder Peter Paul Rubens called it his home. It arrives sideways through tall glass, falls gently across stone and timber, and transforms even the most composed interior into something living, something that breathes.

Residence 513 was conceived to receive that light. An extension of Castle Diependael, home to Gregoir Lifestyle, this Residence is a counterpoint. A domestic interior in full scale, where the pieces we have long admired on pedestals and plinths can finally be encountered as they were designed to be: at home.

"A piece of furniture does not reveal itself in a showroom. It reveals itself in a room — in light, in context, in the way a household gathers around it." Hervé Gregoir.

That belief is the architecture of Residence 513. Every room has been composed, not decorated. Every piece has been placed with intention, in conversation with what surrounds it — the angle of a window, the texture of a wall, the warmth of a late afternoon.

Introducing Residence 513

The Spaces

Step through the threshold and the first thing you notice is the glass. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall, Residence 513 dissolves the boundary between indoors and garden with a quiet confidence. The conservatory lounge, anchored by a generous grey sectional and a sculptural arc floor lamp, asks you to pause. To simply be here, in this particular light, on this particular afternoon.

The living room beyond offers a different register: white bouclé, a double-sided fireplace, a ceiling that opens into the conservatory and draws the eye skyward. This is a space designed for conversation, for the kind of evening that begins without agenda and ends late.

In the dining room, the Camerich Echo chairs, arranged in a considered mix of mustard, navy, and forest green, gather around a circular marble table beneath a glass ceiling framed by the autumn garden. There is a painter’s instinct here: the chairs are not a set but a composition. Their colours recall the garden beyond, which changes by season and by weather.

Die Ottawa dining room, with its oval timber table and quietly curved white chairs, speaks a cooler language, Portuguese by design, Flemish in warmth. Track lighting overhead is turned low enough to be atmospheric without becoming theatrical.

The private rooms

Die Bedroom at Residence 513 is perhaps its most candid room. The Camerich Embrace Bed with its headboard upholstered in amber leather that catches the light like a Vermeer interior anchors a space of remarkable quietude. Above it, an abstract watercolour in muted earth tones: the kind of painting that is different each time you look at it. Beyond a half-open door, the ensuite promises further stillness.

Beside the window, a navy velvet Ease Chair with a single gold cushion stands before a black-framed arch mirror that doubles the room, the light, and the garden. It is the kind of detail that elevates a space from beautiful to unforgettable. Not because it demands attention, but because it rewards it.
